Advantages of Slovenia

Nature & climate

In spite of the tiny size of the country, Slovenian nature and climate are drastically diverse. There are three climatic influences that meet in the country. A harsh Alpine climate prevails in the mountains, the coast has a sub-Mediterranean mild climate, and the north-east lowlands have a continental climate. These conditions create endless variety of the landscape and stunning beauty of its nature. In early spring you can ski in the mountains and then just in 1 hour of driving take a sunbathe and swim in the sea!

Safety & comfort

Slovenia is one of the safest countries in the world! Safety and general quality of life are steadily making Slovenia one of the most attractive countries in the World for living amongst Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Canada, Australia, or New Zeeland.

Easy to communicate

Foreigners are welcome! English is spoken by everyone in Slovenia, a lot speak also Italian, Serbian, and Croatian languages. Foreigners from Slavic-speaking countries will be even a little bit more privileged here since the Slavs were one ethno-linguistic group only 1,300 years ago, and you can understand quite a bit of the Slovenian language immediately when you arrive.

High level of education in Slovenia

The Slovenian education system ranks the 4th in the rating of the EU educational systems. Education in Slovenian universities is an excellent opportunity to receive a European diploma, variety of student discounts and benefits, permission to stay in the country for 6 months after graduation for job search, visa-free travel within the Schengen area, and the possibility of further immigration to Slovenia. The universities of Slovenia (including Ljubljana, Primorsky, Maribor, Euro-Mediterranean universities, and Nova Gorica University) cooperate with more than one hundred universities in Europe, participate in student exchange programs, and offer an opportunity to receive scholarships for foreigners. The Slovenian language, which is the language of education, can be learned directly at universities or language schools.

Doing business

Occupying a favorable geographical position in the EU, having a smooth running economy and a high level of social security, Slovenia is a country providing an extremely high degree of protection of investments in the EU. According to Forbes magazine, Slovenia is among the top 20 best countries for doing business. A foreign entrepreneur can register his business for free at “one window service” - it will take from a couple of days to a week. Slovenia has a loyal taxation system (including avoidance of double taxation) and great resources for business development. The requirements for the organization of entrepreneurial activities in Slovenia are relatively simple, and business immigration offers not only the possibility to further obtain permanent residence permit and citizenship, but also opens up wide prospects for getting European education for you and your family.

Getting a residence permit and immigration

Legislation of the Republic of Slovenia, unlike other European countries, provides fairly simple ways of obtaining a residence permit and moving to permanent residence: business immigration, obtaining student and working permit, residence permit on the basis of marriage with a citizen of Slovenia (in this case, you can apply for citizenship), and residence permit for asylum seekers. Obtaining residence permits in Slovenia is an opportunity to live and study in the EU, beautiful nature and splendid climate, high legal protection and security. You can get permanent residence in Slovenia if you meet a number of conditions that favorably differ from the requirements of other countries: after five years of living in Slovenia, you can apply for citizenship or undergo the naturalization procedure after ten years of living in the country. It is also possible to become a citizen of Slovenia in an expedited manner; in such cases, it may take from one to three years to get a Slovenian passport.
